Prophetic sociology

Prophetic sociology is sociology Prophetic paradigm of Social Sciences (ISP). The idea was raised byKuntowijoyo as an alternative development is an integrated social science capable between social science and values transdental. According to the social sciences should not be complacent in an attempt to explain or understand the reality and then leave it, social sciences should also be the task of transformation towards the ideals of idealized society. Then Kuntowijaya formulated three basic values as the basis of social science prophetic, namely: the humanization, liberation, and transcendence. Here are the three basic values of social sciences prophetic:
1.The humanization, humanize, eliminating the "material"
2.Liberation, in accordance with the principle of socialism (Marxism, communism, dependency theory, liberation theology). Only this prophetic social science not only makes the libration as ideology like communism.
3.Transendention, is the basis of the other two elements. Transcendence was about to make the values of faith as an essential part of the process of building a civilization.
Epistemologically, sociology prophetic stance that the source of knowledge that there are three, namely empirical reality, reason and revelation. This goes against the positivism that sees revelation as part of the myth. Methodologically sociology clear prophetic stand in the face-off with positivism. Sociology prophetic also rejected the tendency of social science to explain or understand the reality only then forgive him. Sociology prophetic not only understand but also aspires transformative one that had been mentioned above (liberalization, humanization and trandendensi). In this case the prophetic sociology closer to the methodology of sociology criticism (critical theory). Through liberation and humanization of sociology prophetic aligned with the interests of sociology emancipatory critique. The difference is also carrying a prophetic sociological transcendence as one of its objectives and the basis values of liberation and humanization. And atu more prophetic sociology have ethical alignments that consciousness determines the base material.
